This editorial aims at exploring the marriage between ancient techniques and an ever evolving perspective of the future. Usually forgotten, traditional techniques have been slowly reappearing under the guise of biomimicry. In parallel, we see our preconceived idea of what the future will look like evolve into something new. From the rough materials and natural landscape, we progress into the muted and sleek elegance of the complex shapes of today. In this portrait, the past and the future converge through this millenary technique. Milagros Pereda, the Argentine designer currently based in Paris and attending Parsons, The New School is committed to creating a durable and sustainable product. Together with the natural reserve El Potrero, in Entre Rios, Argentina, the designer is developing a circular project. Her aim is to grow cotton in the most natural way possible, and continue this process in the recollection, and production of the yarn. Everything is handmade, from the spinning to the knitting, achieving a 100% natural handmade product. Each piece is unique and can be traced to its source.
